Sebastian Alessandro Mignacca - Veterinary Research Officer, DVM, PhD

Sebastian qualified cum laude in 2008 and took his PhD in 2012 at the University of Messina (Italy). From 2009 to 2021, he worked as Research Officer within the State Veterinary Laboratories at the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale (IZS, Italy) and later at the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA, United Kingdom), dealing mainly with research and surveillance in livestock diseases. During 2017 and 2018, Sebastian was also working as a red meat hygiene and animal welfare inspector in slaughterhouses in the United Kingdom. Since 2022, he works as Veterinary Research Officer at the Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine – Pathology Division (Ireland), conducting surveillance and research on livestock and poultry.
Sebastian is co-author of over 120 proceedings/peer review articles in national and international journals mainly on small ruminant health management and diseases, and of an atlas on small ruminant pathology.
Sebastian still collaborates closely with the IZS, the APHA, the ISS (Italian National Institute of Health), and several Vet Schools in Italy and in the UK.
